Carpe Librum is Latin (the original language of literature) for "Seize the books!". It's the battle cry for readers and authors everywhere, and is the mantra with which every dedicated book lover should follow. Every chapter is a beautiful moment to be captured, and I think I speak for us all when I say that
I grew up in a small town in what is colloquially dubbed the "hell-hole" region the Southern U.S. As much as I loved my lazy village on the outskirts of nowhere, I grew slowly restless with my life (or absence of one). And so a reader came to be.
Readers are born in many ways. Some of us, like myself, seed from humbly boring beginnings, seeking a grand adventure. Some of us are on a quest for the answers to big questions, and rifle through pages to retrieve them. Some of us simply want to escape our real lives for a little while, and melt away into someone else.
But no matter what, reading is paramount to the ideal human experience. Every page a step in the right direction. Reading is never a bad choice, it will never steer you wrong.
I'm the kind of reader/writer/obscure poet, who isn't afraid of 3 in the morning. I assure you very few experiences are more delightfully indulgent than ignoring all the pressing things on your plate, pushing them to the side, and glancing to the clock mid novel and finding yourself in the witching hour.
I, and every other reader, was built page by page. The journey is never over for a reader, and with every word they become stronger. So I implore you, "Carpe Librum!"
"Carpe Librum!" as hard as possible, at every opportunity. Seize the books!
